Research: Measuring Lead-Intake Quality Before Outsourcing
Why accurate, owner-ready lead records matter more than a larger unverified queue.
Finding: lead handling should be measured by record accuracy and appropriate routing, not by volume alone. FTC business guidance requires truthful claims and responsible handling of customer information.
Method: audit a dated sample for required fields, source attribution, consent or contact context where applicable, response timestamp, and the destination selected by the business rules.
Implication: external support can prepare and route records under documented boundaries; it should not invent qualification facts, make unsupported claims, or decide sensitive complaints. Sources: FTC, https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance; NIST, https://www.nist.gov/cyberframework.
Limit: the right fields depend on the business, channel, and applicable privacy obligations.
